Sofitel, Dalat South Vietnam
A fabulous old colonial building set high on a hill overlooking the the lake in Dalat. Up in the mountains the air is cool and the Sofitel is the perfect retreat.
Sensibly during the refurbishment of the hotel they decided to keep many of the original features. Hence the huge rooms with old furnishings. Sherlock Holmes style telephones, fabulous old bathrooms with large baths with huge brass taps together with all the familiar clunking noises. Real old style hotel but with great service.
Down in the cellar is Larry's Bar where you can have a couple of drinks before heading out to the Cafe de la Poste. Downstairs International, upstairs Vietnamese cooking.
