Etretat, Dieppe France: Pas De Calais 2007-06-09 00:00:00.000 2007-06-12 00:00:00.000
Etretat is sleepy little fishing town on the Alabaster Coast of France, just north of Le Havre and a few miles down the coast from Dieppe. More importantly it is about 2 hrs from Calais. Perched on top of the magnificent chalk cliffs lies one of France’s top 20 courses and just next door is the Dormy House with great views over the Channel and the little port. The cliffs have been much painted by the French Impressionists Monet, Boudin, Courbet et al.
On the way down on Friday we play St Saens GC which is 90 mins from Calais and about 45 mins from there to the Hotel is just 40 mins. In addition we play two rounds at Etretat and one round at Dieppe. Three new courses for Greencard but all well worth the visit.
Take the Ferry or Eurotunnel from Dover early on the Friday morning and play the first round late morning/early afternoon. Travel on the Thursday if you prefer a more leisurely drive and have a practice round. Magnificent cliff top walks for the non-golfers.
In the evening we have plenty of excellent seafood restaurants to look forward to. All the ingredients for a perfect weekend break.
